Opening Day is September 6th!

Dear AYSO Region 58 Families,

Here are 3 Things To Know as we approach the first day of games on Saturday, September 6th.

Volunteering Update: Now that head coaches have been selected and teams have been formed, you may be wondering how you can volunteer in other ways. There are many opportunities for families to help throughout the season.

  • Team Manager/Parent: Please let your coach know if you are willing to help!

  • Referee (10U, 12U, and 14U games): Our next Regional Referee course is September 19th!

  • Saturday volunteer hours: We ask each family to donate 4 hours every season. This Saturday is the division day for 7UG and 10UB. Please sign up to volunteer at https://www.signupgenius.com/go/5080B4EACAF2DA2F85-58272620-090625. The Division Days for the rest of the season will be released soon.

Referee Abuse Policy: We want to ensure a safe and fun environment for everyone, including our referees. To support this, all Regions in AYSO are adopting the U.S. Soccer Policy 531-9 on Referee Abuse Prevention, which went into effect in March 2025. This policy defines three types of misconduct against a referee:

  • Referee Assault: Any deliberate physical action against a referee. This includes hitting, kicking, or any act that endangers their physical well-being.

  • Referee Abuse: Extreme, deliberate, and non-contact behavior that causes a referee or their family significant harm. An example would be a threat of physical harm.

  • Gross Mistreatment: Deliberate, non-contact behavior that is expected to cause harm. This includes severe harassment, cyberbullying, or questioning a referee's character.

This policy helps to ensure that our referees feel safe and respected. By working together, we can all contribute to a positive experience for our players and officials.

Please visit US Soccer (https://www.ussoccer.com/rap) or contact Mike Lauer with questions regarding the referee abuse policy: [email protected].

We are ONE team: It takes a village to make our program a success each season, and you are a vital part of that community. From our coaches and referees to our dedicated volunteers, every role is equally important. We are all here to support one another and ensure our children can play soccer in a safe and enjoyable environment. With nearly one thousand families participating, it’s understandable that disagreements may arise. I ask that we all approach these moments with respect and remember that we are setting an example for our children. Our actions on and off the field matter, and they are what truly define our community.

Thank you,

Sara Zaldivar
